FROZEN SOUTH INDIAN CHUTNEY RECIPE

Preparation Time: 10 mins.
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

For tomato chutney
2 tbsp oil
3 cloves of garlic (optional)
1 chopped onion
3 tbsp dalia dal
1 tbsp jeeru
3 whole dry red kashmiri chilies
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1 tbsp til
1 tbsp urad dal
2 chopped tomatoes
salt to taste

For coconut chutney
2 tbsp roastes dalia dal
1 cup fresh coconut
2 tbsp chopped coriander
2 tbsp curry leaves
1 chopped green chili
salt to taste
2 tbsp water
1 tsp oil
2 whole dry red kashmiri chilies
1 tsp rai/sarson
2 tbsp urad dal
1 tbsp curry leaves

Method

For tomato chutney
1. Heat the oil in a pan & add garlic.
2. Saute for 30 seconds & add onion.
3. Add dalia dal & saute for 30 seconds.
4. Add jeeru, chilies, ginger, til & urad dal.
5. Add tomatoes, salt & saute for 1-2 minutes.
6. Take off the mixture from the flame.
7. Transfer in a bowl & bring it to room temperature.
8. Add 3 tbsp water & crush the mixture in a grinder to make a smooth paste.
9. Fill in this chutney in a ice plate.
10. Once cubes are formed fill it in a air tight container.
11. Use as desired by bringing it to room temperature.

For coconut chutney
1. Grind the dalia dal, add coconut,coriander, curry leaves.
2. Add chili, salt, water & gring to make a smooth paste.
3. Fill in this chutney in a ice plate.
4. Once cubes are formed fill it in a air tight container.
5. Use as desired by bringing it to room temperature.
6. Heat oil in a pan, add rai, chili, dal & curry leaves.
7. Once all crackles add to the chutney & serve.
