Masoor Rice Recipe

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

1 tbsp ghee
1 bay leaf (teh patta)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 whole dry red kashmiri chilies
2 piece of cinnamon
2 cardamon (elaichi)
4 cloves
1 chopped onion
1/2 tsp chopped garlic
1 tbsp ginger-chilli paste
3 tbsp masoor dal
2 tbsp peas
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
1 bowl rice

Method

1. Boil masoor dal, peas & rice separately.
2. Heat the ghee in a pan.
3. Add bay leaf, cumin seeds, red chillies, cloves, cinnamon & elaichi.
4. Add onion, garlic, ginger-chilli paste & saute until onions turns golden.
5. Add turmeric, garam masala, salt, masoor dal, peas & mix properly.
6. Add rice & mix properly, cook for 2-3 minutes.
7. Garnish with coriander & serve hot with vegetable raita.
